If you’re looking for a physio you might well start your search on the net by looking for the following:
“Exeter physio”
“Physiotherapy Exeter”
“Exeter physiotherapy”
“A physiotherapist near me”
Or even, given the current circumstances with the pandemic, “Are physiotherapists open?”
Well yes, physiotherapists are open, taking special measures as at Neil Davey Physio, to protect us all according to the guidelines from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Online Consultation vs. “Physiotherapy Exeter…”
Physiotherapy consultations have traditionally been face-to-face, with most physios being unsure that remote consultation would be useful or acceptable to patients. So people searched for physios in their localities.
That has now all changed. People have accepted remote consultations and, while they are not ideal in all situations, a video session can be very effective.
Telephone consultations are the first line of remote treatments. We can get a really good sense of how a person is managing and what their history is by having a call with them. This usually takes 30 minutes or more.
Once we have decided that we may be able to help them with their pain or other physical problems, we can schedule a video consultation via Skype or Zoom. This means we can see the person and judge how they move about and what their typical postures are like.
Video consultations (remote consultations) can be very effective in helping manage pain problems. Even though we can’t put our hands on the person and guide their movement, we very quickly get to an understanding of how we can work together.
We have all been surprised at the success of remote consultations, in that people readily accept them as reasonable and in how effective they can be.
If you have a pain or disability problem that you would like help with, call Neil at Neil Davey Physio in Exeter to book a session or a to schedule a remote consultation. So, searching for “Exeter physio” doesn’t seem anywhere near as useful as it was before the pandemic hit.
